I met Travis a little over 2 years ago when he was selling phones. I remember talking to him about tennis and he told me about his little brother my age that play’s tennis. I ran into him again at a party and we were going to go and hang out, but things just never happened. About 6 months later my friend took my phone and was going to call our friend Travis, but ended up calling Travis Bastian. After that him and I became very good friends. He came over to my house and we played tennis. He was so fun to play with and teased me so bad. I told him I was not going to lose to him, but it was a very close match. I beat him in a tie breaker and he had to take me out to lunch for beating him!
Later that month I went to Roosevelt with him and his friend Jason. I was so excited to go and I had so much fun! Travis was so easy to talk to and he really cared when he would ask me things about my life. I remember he was one of the few people that I could really talk to and trust! He loved his friends and adored his family! He talked so highly of each and everyone of them. He talked about his sister that lived in Vegas and how much he loved her and her kids, his brother on a mission and how he was going to playing tennis at Utah State, and his little sister that he absolutely loved!
Travis and I stayed friends and would talk occasionally. Every time I ran into him he was so sweet and always asking me how I was doing. The last time I saw him was at the Sports Mall when his little sister came in for a tennis tournament. I use to work there, but I was working out and ran into him in the hall. I went up and watched his sister play tennis and met some of his family.
Travis is such a neat person who is loved by all that ever met him! His sister is so beautiful and such a wonderful tennis player! I know that those two are on a tennis court up in heaven playing! I can only imagine Travis teasing her, out of love!
Travis is missed by all and such an amazing person!

I just heard about Trav's accident, and remembering him. I knew Trav at SUU and knew him through some mutual friends. I came to hang out with Trav during the summers and at college. After college, I ran into him at the singles ward in Sugar House. We were in the same ward and it was fun to have a buddy from SUU. I lost track of him after I moved out of the ward and got married, and heard the news through Carrie Pace.
I am deeply sorry for your loss.... Trav was a great friend, someone to always cheer you up and make you laugh.
I will always remember him!!!!

Dear Chelsa,
I am so sorry for you and your family's loss. I did not know Desiree, but she looks just like you! Great big smile and beautiful eyes. Travis and Desiree are together and missing all of you as much as you miss them! I know you know they are in a glorious place to share one anothers company and carry out our Heavenly Father's work. Know that my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

Bastian Family,
I extend my deepest condolences to you and your extended family and friends. I have never met Travis or Desiree. I don’t even know anyone in your family. I have an acquaintance that attended the funeral and shared your tragedy with me. I have to tell you that my heart is very heavy and full tonight. My friend went into great detail describing the funeral, the stories shared, the qualities and personality traits possessed by Travis and Desiree, and the strength, love, and tenderness demonstrated by your family. I wish that I had been given the opportunity of knowing them.
On Saturday, my husband and our two small children traveled to Burley, Idaho to watch the annual Spud Man Triathlon. As we approached the place that the competitors were finishing the race there were literally thousands gathered to watch at the finish line. I could barely handle the excitement and joy that filled the air. I was so emotional that I couldn’t hold back my tears. I didn’t even know any of the competitors and still I felt myself cheering each one on as they made their way to the finish line. What a triumph I felt watching them complete this difficult course. I cried, and I cheered, and I cried some more. My husband finally turned to me and said quite seriously…”I think something is wrong with you. Why are you crying?” I thought about his question for a while. And I have finally concluded that I was emotional and full of joy because I truly believe that is what it will be like when we are greeted on the other side of the veil. Family members that have gone on before us waiting for us, cheering us on with pride and love, watching our hard labors come to an end and our new journey beginning together with them. How great will be our joy in the kingdom of Our Father? And how much more will be the sweetness of your reunion with Travis and Desiree because of the bitterness of the separation.
Enos said it best…
Enos 1:27 And I soon go to the place of my rest, which is with my Redeemer; for I know that in him I shall rest. And I rejoice in the day when my mortal shall put on immortality, and shall stand before him; then shall I see his face with pleasure, and he will say unto me: Come unto me, ye blessed, there is a place prepared for you in the mansions of my Father. Amen.
May your family be succored in your time of need and feel the love of the Savior and the sweetness of your temmple promises is my prayer!

To the Bastian Family,
While attending SUU I had the pleasure of rooming with Travis' sister, Chelsa. I also got to know Travis at SUU. What a character! Always quick-witted and one to make you smile. Hanging out in some of the same crowds -- he was always one of the lady's favorites! I know how much Chelsa looked up to Travis while he served his mission and was very happy to have him home. I know Chelsa also loved Des and wanted the best for her little sister. I send my deepest condolences to you and all your extended family and friends. All of us who know Travis, Des or any member of your family will always smile when we think of them.....

Travis was in my ward and although I didn't know him very well, was always impressed by him. Things like this always put life and it's purpose into perspective and I am grateful for Travis's example. Such an amazing person! Please know that you are in the hearts and prayers of many around the country. May the Lord bless you with peace and comfort at this time. I wish you the best!

I attended High School with Travis and we hung out we the same group of friends. Travis was always such a cutie. I was also the one to give Desiree her first perm when I was in beauty school, I'm not sure if I should claim that or not, but I will.I was so sad to hear of your loss they are both such amazing people, heaven is lucky to have them back. You and your family are in our thoughts and prayers. Take care.

Travis and I were next door neighbors. I have so many positive memories playing football and basketball and soccer and steal the flag and jumping off his parents balcony onto his trampoline and camping and school and everything that should be included in childhood. I am so happy to have shared many of those moments with Travis. I remember when my family moved into his neighborhood, he was the first to hold his hand out for friendship. I will always remember his witty and sly smile and his energy which he spent enjoying life.

Though our association was brief, Travis was a great friend. We played volleyball together at SUU for two years. I truly enjoyed road trips when T Bass went along with us. He always lightened the mood and had a joke to play on someone. He also had a great taste in women. He was the last person to kiss my wife before I met her. (Brianna Baumgartner). She also sends her sympathies. We both respect and will miss Travis. It was truly a pleasure having known him and look forward to seeing him again whe we will all have a body as perfect as his was here.

Travis was a friend of mine through out jr. high & highschool. We were in many classes together over the years. Travis was such a great person. I don't think I have a single memory of him without a smile on his face. He was so much fun to be around. He was always having a good time. He truly was a wonderful friend to have. I will miss him very much.
I never knew Desiree. I can tell by just looking at her picture that her smile would light up a room.
I am so sorry for your loss. Your family in is my thoughts & prayers.

I served my mission with Elder Bastian, and always admired his smile and incredible work ethic. He made our meetings fun, and truly exemplified the Savior in his desire to serve the people we were with. I am grateful to have known him and for the honor that it was to serve with him... Aloha.

Dear Bastian Family,
I was not close friends with Travis, but his Spirit and influence affected everyone around him and carried to all those that they were around. I have always admired your whole family. I had the blessing of shareing some of the most important times of my life with Travis. We both served in the mission field together in Houston and I was able to serve in two of the same areas with him. When I think of him I remember his smile and his laugh! He was always happy. Shortly after returning home from Houston I got married. When my husband and I came out of the Temple there was Travis sitting outside waiting. I had no idea he was coming and felt so horrible that he sat outside during our sealing. He would have been invited in had I known he was going to come. I got sick after the sealing and had to be hospitolized for a week and missed our reception. I feel so bad that I never had the chance to speak to him afterwards or thank him for makeing the trip down to St. George to see us at our wedding. It was a blessing to know him. You must be a special family to have been blessed with such a special son. Our thoughts and prayers are with you!

I am so sorry for the loss you are feeling right now. Losing a loved one is the hardest thing I can imagine dealing with. I was friends with Travis in Jr. High and High School. He has always been an amazing person. I feel honored that I got to share a small part of his life. My brother Dustin died in a car accident several years ago. I couldn't imagine life going on after that happened, but somehow it did. It still hurts, and I miss him every day, but life goes on and we learn how to move forward. Hold the memories of Travis and Desiree in your hearts always. They are with you as long as you keep those memories alive. You are in my thoughts and prayers. Please let me know if there is anything I can do for you in the weeks, months, or even years to come.

Travis was a great missionary and I enjoyed working with him. When we were in Texas, he always put a great deal of energy into the missionary work. I felt honored to have known him. I am not able to attend the funeral because of my aunt's sealing in the Manti temple scheduled at the same time. I just wanted to say what many missionaries that served with Travis felt: He was a very succesful missionary that touched our lives.

I can't even begin to know how you are dealing with this loss, I am so sorry for your family and you are in my thoughts all the time. You don't know me but I did know Travis when he was friends with my daughter Sunny in Jr. High and also my son, Dustin was friends with Chelsa. Dustin died in a car accident with Zach Newton I am sure remember. I am amazed everyday that I can keep going I never thought I could if something happened to one of my children. luckily the others keep me going. The pain never goes away but I can tell you that it changes as time goes on. I still miss Dustin everyday and there is never a day that goes by that I don't think of him. Again, I am so sorry for your loss of both children. If ever I could do anything please call. 721-9587. I will keep you in my prayers. Diane Johnson
