Mary Francis Walker Kearl, "GranMary," passed away on Thursday, June 14, 2007, rejoining her sweetheart on the 63rd anniversary of their wedding. Born Dec. 9, 1922, in Buffalo, OK, she was the only child of Francis Edward Walker and Sarah Ruth McMinn.
Mary met her sweetheart, Cyril Max Kearl, at Utah State University where she received a bachelor's degree in accounting. On June 14, 1944, in Hopkinsville, KY, the couple married while Cy was on a 3-day pass from his military service. Mary later joined the LDS church, and the couple was subsequently sealed in the Salt Lake temple. They were married for 52 years and had 5 children.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Cy, her daughter-in-law, Sue, and her granddaughter, Heidi.
She is survived by her five children: Edward, TN; Gary (Mima), KY; Marty (Jayne), UT; Jamie Burnett (Duane), UT; Alan (Beckie), NY. She is also survived by 22 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren.
Mary was a faithful member of the LDS church and spent her life serving those around her. Her humor, determination, and love will be missed by all who knew her.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 18, 2007 at the LDS Chapel, 1475 North 300 West, Bountiful. Friends and family may call Sunday evening from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 North Main, and Monday morning 9:45 - 10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services. Interment-Garden City Cemetery.
