Our family reverently rejoices over Mom’s heavenly reunion on September 20, 2006. She passed peacefully at home surrounded by her family. Carla was born May 27, 1933 to J. Grant and Mercedes Richards Iverson. She attended East High and the U of U where she was affiliated with Chi Omega and made many life-long friends. It was there she met her eternal companion, Duane B. Welling. They were married Sept. 21, 1953 in the Salt Lake Temple.

She lived by her family motto, “The gospel’s true and we love you” dedicating her life to her church, family and friends. She served with her husband presiding over the Iowa Des Moines Mission and in the temple presidency of the Bountiful Utah Temple. She also served in many ward and stake leadership positions including Stake Relief Society President, but perhaps her favorite calling was that of nursery leader.

She loved family, friends, gardening, quilting, the Tabernacle Choir, knitting, holidays, U of U football and basketball, dipping and indulging in chocolate, missionaries, traveling, entertaining, playing the piano, the scriptures, the temple, and life in general.

Her example and love will remain with many, including husband, Duane, children Wendy (Clark) Hodgkinson, Brad (Susan), Richard (Rosanne), Darrel (Kim), Kathy (Steve) Wilson, 26 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and brothers Craig (Charlene) Iverson and Scott (Gloria) Iverson.

Funeral services will be held Monday September 25, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. in the Mueller Park Stake Center, 1800 East Mueller Park Road (1800 South). Friends may call Sunday evening from 6:00 pm-8:00 pm at Russon Brothers Mortuary 295 North Main, Bountiful and Monday from 9:00 am -10:30 am prior to services. Interment will be in the Bountiful Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the LDS missionary fund. The family would like to express gratitude to Dr. Chris Jackson and to so many who have offered prayers, love and support. Online guest book at www.russonmortuary.com.
